The veterinary antitumor preparation Vetera-DDW-25 is the world’s first medicine with deuterium-depleted water as active agent, and is applied as complementary treatment in tumorous small animals.
The most important milestones in the history of Vetera-DDW-25:
1994
The documentation of the deuterium-depleted active agent was submitted to the Institute for Control of Veterinary Vaccines, Medicines and Fodder.
1996
The Department of Animal Health and Food Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development approved, by Decision No. 18.543/1996, the trial of deuterium-depleted water on the cat and dog patients at the Veterinary Clinic of Alpha-Vet Ltd. in Székesfehérvár.
1999
In May 1999 HYD LLC submitted the registration documents of Vetera-DDW-25 A.U.V. to the authority in charge. In the expert opinion by the Institute for Control of Veterinary Vaccines, Medicines and Fodder, registration of the product and permission of its distribution was recommended.
The Department of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development, in agreement with the Ministry of Health, registered Vetera-DDW-25 as prescription antitumor veterinary medicine under No. 13/99.
Manufacturing of Vetera-DDW-25 started, under license by HYD LLC, at the products plant of Reanal Fine Chemicals Co. Distribution of the product commenced via the biggest wholesalers of veterinary medicines and in veterinary pharmacies.
2002
HYD LLC for Cancer Research and Drug Development submitted an application for testing new formulations of Vetera-DDW-25. The Department of Animal Health and Food Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development approved the trials of injection and infusion form of Vetera-DDW-25.
2008
The veterinary preparation Vetera-DDW-25 A.U.V. is manufactured, under license by HYD LLC, at Pharmamagist Drug Producing, Trade and Services Ltd.
2011
The Directorate of Veterinary Medicinal Products of the Central Agricultural Office classified the preparation Vetera-DDW-25 as a veterinary paramedicinal product and registered it under No. 084/1/2011 MgSzH ÁTI. The product serves for complementary treatment of tumorous pets and is available over the counter.
2015
The Directorate of Veterinary Medicinal Products of the National Food Chain Safety Office renewed the registration of Vetera-DDW-25 and prolonged it for indefinite times. The product can be freely distributed.
HYD Pharma Zrt, with its affiliated company HYD LLC for Cancer Research and Drug Development, realized – with own means and subvention of the European Union–an investment, by which industrial scale manufacturing of deuterium-depleted water in pharmaceutical quality, conform with GMP (good manufacturing practice) regulations, could be started in Hungary world-first.
DDW as active agent has been also registered in the system of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
2017
The veterinary preparation Vetera-DDW-25 is manufactured, under license by HYD LLC, at United Pharma Ltd.
2019
The manufacurer of Vetera-DDW-25 is the assignee of United Pharma Ltd, the Primavet Produkt Ltd., under the licence of HYD LLC. for Cancer Research and Drug Development.
The new, 1-liter packaging size of Vetera-DDW-25 was registered by NEBIH Directorate of Veterinary Medicinal Products in 2023. (Reg. No. 084/2/NM/2023 NÉBIH ÁTI)
